Extends Innovations in Mobile Video, Ad Delivery and Video Management Solutions

New York City – October 24, 2013 – LongTail Video, the leading provider of video solutions for web publishers, today announced that it will change its name and rebrand to JW Player. With this name change, the company will align itself with its flagship product, the popular JW Player, which delivers video to over two million sites ranging from Fortune 1000 companies to small businesses.

“In the past five years, we have watched the JW Player grow by leaps and bounds. It has become synonymous with video player technology and is now a recognized and valuable brand in online video,” said Dave Otten, CEO of JW Player. “By changing our name and branding to JW Player, we closely associate our company name with the product that people know and love.”

This is echoed by Arthur Cinader, EVP of Product Development at POPSUGAR and JW Player customer. “JW Player continues to lead the market in providing video solutions for publishers like us. The company has been a consistent innovator in online video, most recently in areas like mobile where we have seen tremendous growth in traffic.”

Under its new name, JW Player will continue to focus its development efforts on three key areas of innovation:

  • Mobile video. In the past year, JW Player delivered the industry’s most comprehensive solutions in HLS (HTTP Live Streaming), VAST advertising in HTML5, and responsive design, greatly increasing JW Player publishers’ reach to audiences on mobile platforms. The company is redoubling its investment in mobile and is releasing Android & iOS SDKs for native app development with the JW Player.
  • Video Advertising. JW Player has long been the leader in supporting video ad delivery. Recent updates to the player provide greater flexibility to publishers  to monetize live streaming events,  manage ad schedules across multiple ad networks and verify ad impression and click tracking. The company will expand its support for industry standards and will release support for VAST3 during this quarter.
  • Video Management Solutions. JW Player delivers a suite of solutions that can be added on to its core player offering. Customers can choose to use video analytics, video management, and a host of integrations including WordPress, YouTube, and Google and Adobe Analytics to drive the greatest value for them. In the coming year, the company will roll out advanced analytics, content syndication and ad mediation.
